The 6-time champion of closed circuit in Bulgaria, Ivan Vlachkov, recorded his first race of the season. This happened last weekend on the Red Bull Ring track in Austria. Ivan competes in the second round of the Central European Zone Championship – ESET Cup Series with SIN Car R1 GT4.
On Saturday there was a qualification and 2 races – sprint and endurance. In the qualification due to a minor accident there was a problem with the car and Vlachkov failed to drive in the short distance.
Everything was fine for the endurance and Ivan drove in a very chaotic race. It was interrupted several times by a security car and rain at the end. Ivan did well and finished 3rd in the GTX class and 27th in the overall standings, but was ranked 4th after another class car was moved to his at the last minute.
On Sunday, in the third race of the weekend, Vlachkov started 35th and finished 22nd in the overall standings. In the class he became 4th out of 7 competitors.
“I am very happy that I was able to attend this competition,” said Vlachkov. – The organization was up to standard. We are starting to work on a new engine for the weekend in the Slovak ring (August 20-21), where we will fight for a place in the top 3. I want to express my graitude towards Ethnographic Complex Damascena, IA Trans and HTI Bulgaria for the support, as well as Mr. Rosen Daskalov, the mechanics and my family. “
